To further develop my understanding and interest in Law during the summer of 2017 I travelled to Dubai and undertook a one week work experience opportunity with the internationally recognised Dispute Resolution Authority (DRA) in the the Dubai Financial District. Under the mentorship of Secretary General Mark Beer (OBE) I was given a unique insight into commercial and corporate law. I was asked to research and write a paper about the future of the courts. Through my research I came to the conclusion that ODR would begin to be more widely encouraged due to the ease and convenience for customers and also businesses in their disputes. With the use of ORD, cases could be held via video conference anywhere in the world which seems more adapted towards bigger business with international clients. I gave a detailed presentation and answered queries. This proved to be an incredibly eye opening experience and I made a number of very important connections that I hope to use to help my interest in a law career.
